Rainbow stackers review: Bajo double versus Grimm's sunset

In November 2019, we received two rainbows, a Grimm’s sunset from the Malig Nog naokrog webshop and a Bajo double from bajo’s official sample store in Krakow.
I have been planning for a long time to compare the two rainbows, hopefully in the near future we will be able to show all the brands at once, in one place!

Bajo 32cm X 16.5 cm X 7 cm and Grimm's sunset 30cm X 15 cm X 6 cm, both  stacker has 10 pieces. The first striking difference besides their size, is that the Bajo is not cut out of  one piece of wood like the Sunset. The material of the bajo is a kind of pressed wood, and  2 arches are glued together. This is aesthetically less attractive, but the manufacturer justifies the flexibility of the product in addition to the lower price. The glue is a completely safe material, as the rainbow has been tested as a high-quality product! The grinding and shaping of the edges is not as soft or delicate as on Grimm's product. The colors are similarly vibrant, but Grimm’s Sunset is more beautiful, more vivid. The touch is similar on both, matte, velvety, which is very important to me in these wooden toys. The pieces don't slide on each other at all when stacking. Also they smell nice!

The only feature of Bajo which is surpasses the Grimm’s product, its engineering precision. It can be put together in both directions, no difference, no matter how I build it together. This is not the case with Grimm's products, the arches are a bit "crooked", unsymmetrical. This is what the Grimm's manufacturer calls as a kind of rarity, but customers are already divided on this, not everyone is happy with it.

In overall, Bajo double is a good toy, but it isn't that beauty like Grimm’s sunset. Because of its intense colors, my child reaches out for it sooner and it is part of her fantasy play in many ways, e.g. its a sea, or an ice palace because its strong, intense blueness. However, building with Bajo double is easier for her, she has more success with Bajo, as the weight of the arches is very even. Both toys are a lot of fun, they are very good complements to each other, so we probably won't need 12 pieces stacker anymore.

I wasn't sponsored to write this review and I bought the toys for full price for myself.
